O Lord, so meek and
humble of heart, help me to learn and love humility. Restrain my tongue
when I would speak of myself. Check me when I would become contentious,
quarrelsome, dissatisfied with my lot. Help me to think as little as
possible of myself, and as much as possible of the Blessed Trinity and
of others, my fellow men, in whom I must see Thyself.
O Jesus, meek and humble of
heart,
have mercy on me.
From the wish to be
esteemed,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the wish to be loved,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the wish to be
honored,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the wish to be
praised, to be preferred to others,
deliver me, O
Jesus.
From the desire to be
asked for advice,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire to be
approved,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being
humiliated,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being
despised,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being
rebuked,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being
maligned,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being
forgotten,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being
ridiculed,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being
treated unfairly,
deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being
suspected,
deliver me, O Jesus.
That others be loved more
than I,
O Jesus, give me the grace of this holy desire.
That others grow in the
esteem of the world and I decrease,
O
Jesus, give me the grace of this holy desire.
That others be entrusted
with work and I be put aside,
O
Jesus, give me the grace of this holy desire.
That others be praised and
I be neglected,
O
Jesus, give me the grace of this holy desire.
That others be preferred
to me in all things,
O
Jesus, give me the grace of this holy desire.
That others become holier
than I, provided that, I too, become as holy as I can,
O
Jesus, give me the grace of this holy desire.
