One
life to live.
One chance to live it.
Will you give your life for Christ?
We are priests, Christ has called us to "leave
everything and follow Him."
The work He has called us to do at the service of the Church and our
neighbor requires of us everything we are and have, and we give it freely
out of love.
Could He be calling you also?
Ordination to the priesthood is followed by a life dedicated to the
ministry.
Preparation for the priesthood implies total commitment. Nothing
less than what was asked of the fishermen from Galilee is asked of those
whom Christ calls today. Christ needs men of prayer who see the world, its
events and needs through eyes of faith - men who put their hands to the plow
without looking back.
We are priests. Through retreats, the sacraments - especially the
Eucharist and Reconciliation - and spiritual direction we lead souls to
conversion, to live the life of grace. Through instruction in the Faith and
prayer we help them mature and deepen this life within them. We help them
organize so as to spread the message of salvation - to be apostles - not
only through their prayer and example, but also by concrete action.
Once ordained we do not sit back, or slump, resting on our oars. We
cannot. The urgency of the mission does not allow us; the world around us
and its gasping needs do not allow us. The … ideal of what a priest should
be, is this: an active, dynamic apostle, always looking ahead, setting new
goals, seeking to be effective in bringing Christ to the world around him,
sensitive to the abyss into which the passions of men have drawn us, and
convinced of the fact that only lives rooted in Christ and spent in
unrelenting and faithful service to Him can change the world.
